Business Need

The USDA required an RFID solution to manage and track inventory of imported, quarantined plants and trees into the U.S. and quarantined inventory inspection, validation and reporting.


ViziTrace implemented an RFID solution that tagged and identified overseas plants and trees at each of the three arboretums in which information was made available to the worker and office staff. The solution also recorded the suspected disease or other characteristic for each plant and tree.


The solution resulted in accurate accounting for inventory and reliable inspection data that is accurate from the point of data acquisition within the arboretum. Due to the accelerated speed of the inspection process, workers performed more frequent inspections of larger volumes of plants and trees and had the ability to provide a qualitative analysis of inspection results.
